FILTRATION

One of the most effective systems for removing pollutants from water is membrane filtration, which has several techniques, such as ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis and electrodeionisation. Tertiary Filtration in wastewater treatment plants is used to obtain water suitable for reuse in non-drinkable processes.

SANITISATION

With the sanitisation process it is possible to prevent the formation of these pathogens, among which Legionella is becoming more and more frequent, to preserve the chemical/physical qualities of the water and to avoid problems of corrosion of the pipes.

BIOLOGICAL TREATMENTS

Biological water treatments exploit the action of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria for the removal of organic compounds such as BOD, nitrogen and phosphorus. Treatments that allow for space optimisation are also applicable, for example MBR (Membrane BioReactor), and MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor).

CHEMICAL-PHYSICAL TREATMENTS

Treatments used mainly in industry for the removal of substances such as heavy metals and insoluble salts. Among the most common are flotation, to induce the floating of aerophilic substances, and clariflocculation, which, thanks to the addition of coagulants, causes the aggregation and precipitation of pollutants.

DRYING AND
CRYSTALLISATION

In order to obtain a further concentration of the solid by-product, a drying process is applied, which enables a dry content of up to 90% to be achieved. For the transition to the crystalline state of liquid solutions such as brines or ammonium sulphate, the crystallisation process is used instead.
